Carpet Style Considerations
In many situations, the style of carpet you choose is even more important than the fiber you decide on. How the carpet looks and feels matters more to most of us than what the carpet is made of.

At Raleigh Carpet Masters, in North Carolina, we want you to be comfortable with the appearance and texture of your new carpet, in addition to being satisfied with the quality of the fibers. Call us today for a complimentary consultation and measurement @ 888.919.6465.

The following list will give you an overview of the various styles of carpet available to you.
Berber carpets are the most popular residential carpets on the market today. They are usually made up of thicker yarns which make them more durable, stain resistant, and more durable overall. Berbers come in nearly all of the carpet fiber types. This style of carpet is also the most affordable.

Cut pile is the second most popular carpet style. This style gives a sumptuous look and texture, without the high cost. However, this style is not easy to keep clean, and if you use it in a room that undergoes a great deal of foot traffic, it won’t be long before vacuuming takes its toll on the carpet.

Cut and Loop pile combines cut and looped fibers. It imparts a mixture of textures and gives a sculptured effect for a unique look. Upkeep and maintenance of this style is easier that with cut pile.

Saxony carpets are comprised of two or more fibers twisted together and then cut straight. This carpet style is not very resilient. However, they look gorgeous, as long as you don’t allow anyone to walk on them.

Textured Saxony carpets on the other hand, are very resistant to foot prints and wear and tear. This style of carpet is made in the same way as a regular Saxony, except that the fibers are twisted more tightly, and not cut straight.

Velvet/Plush carpets are similar to Saxony, and they are very soft, but show every mark.

Frieze is a highly twisted cut pile carpet designed specifically for high traffic, well-used rooms. It is composed of short fibers that curl in different directions which help to make it more durable and longer lasting.

Level loop pile is prepared by entwining uniform loops of yarn and then inserting them into the carpet backing from both ends. This type of carpet is very hardwearing because of its sturdy loops. Longer loops produce a more lush look. Shorter, closer loops are easier to clean. This type of carpet is best for often-used rooms.

Multi-level loop pile consists of various loop lengths.  This carpet style has a more texturized appearance and feel. It is also easier to maintain and to clean, because the texture resists dirt and marks.
